Kalitta Charters is widely known for our ability to transport animals, including marine mammals, safely and efficiently. Our client list includes many zoos, aquariums, veterinary clinics and research facilities. Recent shipments have included nine manatees, a beluga whale and a planeload of noisy penguins.
Our aircraft are precisely climate-controlled to suit individual requirements. By maintaining cooler temperatures for penguins and a lower cabin pressure / altitude for marine mammals such as the beluga whale, for example, all our non-human passengers experience a comfortable and healthy journey. Space is always provided for trainers, handlers and veterinarians. Kalitta Charters also transports animals for the US Department of Agriculture and support industries, including cattle, horses, swine, poultry and waterfowl.
Notably, Kalitta Charters owns and operates a Boeing 727-200 aircraft for Tex Sutton Enterprises in Lexington, KY, exclusively to transport horses. The aircraft has been configured and painted for this purpose and features Tex Sutton’s logo and the words ‘First Class Equine Air Travel’ on the fuselage. The new designation for Kalitta Charters N725CK is ‘Air Horse One’. The passengers carried aboard this aircraft are priceless thoroughbred racehorses, including Kentucky Derby winners.
Flight safety is paramount for any transport performed by Kalitta Charters. Flight physiology restrictions are always researched and discussed with trainers prior to the flight planning stage. At Kalitta Charters, we seek to provide a safe, quiet and comfortable atmosphere for all of our passengers – whether human or otherwise.
