Hazardous Materials / Dangerous Goods / Explosives
Kalitta Charters is an approved air carrier for the US Department of Defense, US Department of Justice and US Department of Energy. All three agencies frequently require the services of Kalitta Charters (with special operating permits) for air transportation of hazardous materials, dangerous goods and explosives.
A Kalitta Charters hazmat specialist can quickly determine, on a case-by-case basis, the regulations and necessary steps to transport any type of hazardous material, dangerous goods or explosives by air. There are obvious hazardous materials that are strictly forbidden to be transported by air; such materials are transported instead by truck, rail, or sea in rigorously tested containers. But if hazardous cargo can legally be flown then Kalitta Charters can fly it, to both domestic and international destinations.
Kalitta Charters is part of a select group of air carriers that maintains a current exemption from the US Department of Transportation, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration to transport explosives in division 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4. The exemption is a public record and can be found at www.phmsa.dot.gov (type Kalitta in search box).
Kalitta Charters is a member in good standing of the International Society of Explosives Engineers. Hazmat specialists at Kalitta undergo continuous recurrent training to ensure adherence to the constant changes and updates to dangerous goods regulations – and most importantly, to ensure the safety of everyone involved in transporting dangerous goods by air.
